On Monday, May 18, 2026, the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, held an honorary award ceremony marking its 70th anniversary. Assoc. Prof. Arwin Intrungsi, Dean of the Faculty of Decorative Arts, along with former executives, current administrators, staff, distinguished guests, and representatives from the public and private sectors, attended the event at the Auditorium of Silpakorn University, Tha Phra Palace, Bangkok.
The Faculty of Decorative Arts was established on May 18, 1956, initiated by Professor Silpa Bhirasri, who was then the Dean of the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture. The objective was to provide comprehensive education in all art and design professions, covering both theoretical and practical aspects under the discipline of Decorative Arts. Today, the faculty has expanded to produce graduates in various fields of art and design at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. These include Interior Design, Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Applied Art Studies, Ceramics, Jewelry Design, and Fashion Design.
The 70th-anniversary honorary award ceremony was organized under the project “70 Years of Design Wisdom.” A total of 70 honorary awards were presented to 8 former deans, benefactors, outstanding alumni, outstanding students, outstanding faculty members, and outstanding support staff. These awards recognize the individuals and organizations that have continuously co-created and supported the development of the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University.
